Don Lannoye appointed county attorney

The Sibley County Commissioners, during their regular meeting on Tuesday morning, unanimously approved a motion to appoint current Asssitant Sibley County Attorney Donald Lannoye as the new Sibley County attorney effective October 2021.

County Commissioners Joy Cohrs, Bobbie Harder, Peter Koch, Chris Lilienthal and Steve Saxton all voted in support of the motion.

The County Commissioners made the move after a recommendation from the Interview Committee. The committee included County Administrator John Gliszcinski, Human Resource Director Jodi Coleman, Koch and Lilienthal.   
The county attorney position will become open when current Sibley County Attorney David Schauer retires in October of 2021. Lannoye will complete the current term of office. This will end in January of 2023 when the position will be filled by election.

The other candidates who were interviewed included Stamate Skliris, Assistant Sibley County Attorney; Carol Mayer of Mayer Law Offices, LLC, Arlington; and Tyler Rew who is employed by the Minnesota Judicial Branch, District 3 as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Karie M. Anderson.
