The Sibley County Board, during its regular meeting on Tuesday morning, Aug. 27, voted 4-1 to approve the hiring of a full-time assistant county attorney, a part-time legal assistant/bookkeeper, furnishing the empty offices in the County Attorney’s office, and finally approved entering into professional service contracts with the cities of Arlington and Green Isle.

County Commissioner Jim Swanson questioned why County Attorney David Schauer asked for a bookkeeper position.  He thought it was worked out with someone in administration.  Schauer said the prior administrator, Roxy Traxler, would work that out, but she never did.  Schauer stated “it’s not getting done.”

Schauer reported that he had also been contacted by Lori Doering from the City of Gaylord about providing a similar service in Gaylord. Schauer said she wanted to know if the county would consider the same service for Gaylord.  Schauer said he suggested that she contact the county administrator and Jim Swanson.
