The Sibley East varsity football team, after a promising start, lost to visiting Tri-City United 31-8 on Friday night, Sept. 8.
The Wolverines, on the opening kickoff, shocked the Titans with an onside kick. Senior Joe Ballalatak recovered the ball on the TCU 44-yard line.
Sibley East drove down to the TCU 13-yard line after Ballalatak hauled in a 26-yard, one-handed catch from senior quarterback Brody Neisen.
The drive, however, stalled on downs on the TCU 11-yard line.
The Titans drove down the field and eventually scored on a 39-yard run by Connor Flintrop. The touchdown capped an 89-yard drive. The extra point kick was good and Sibley East fell behind 7-0 with 7:42 left in the opening quarter.
