The City Council, about one year ago, approved the electrical rates increases for 2019 and 2020 because the energy rates had not been modified in Arlington since 2014. In addition, the demand charge had never been modified since it was implemented. The City of Arlington, in recent history, was providing energy at below the cost of service. A larger than normal rate increase was required phased in over a two-year period.
