Businesses concerned about high electrical rates

The Arlington City Council, during its recent regular meeting, listened to concerns from a couple business owners about the electrical rate increase that was in effect during 2019 and the hike planned for 2020.


The City Council, about one year ago, approved the electrical rates increases for 2019 and 2020 because the energy rates had not been modified in Arlington since 2014. In addition, the demand charge had never been modified since it was implemented. The City of Arlington, in recent history, was providing energy at below the cost of service. A larger than normal rate increase was required phased in over a two-year period.
