Homecoming activities begin next week

Sibley East Homecoming Week will run from Sunday, Sept. 22,  through Friday, Sept 27.
People of all ages are encouraged to show their school spirit and attend all Homecoming events.

Coronation &
Pepfest
The coronation and pepfest will be held in the gymnasium at the Sibley East High School/Middle School in Arlington from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.

Homecoming
Parade
The Homecoming Parade will be held from 2:05 p.m. to 3:12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.
The staging area will begin at the corner of West Douglas Street and Fourth Avenue Northwest, with floats lining West Douglas Avenue.
The parade will head west on West Douglas Street, turn south on Fourth Avenue Northwest, turn east on Main Street, then turn north on First Avenue Northwest and end at the football field.

SE School Board accepts quote for removal of fuel storage tank in Gaylord

The Sibley East School Board, during its regular meeting in Arlington on Monday night, Sept. 16, unanimously approved a motion to accept a $3,900 quote from Zahl Equipment Services, Mankato, to remove the underground fuel storage tank at the bus garage site in Gaylord.


School Board members Brian Brandt, Avery Grochow, Jon Hazelwood, Laura Reid, Missy Weber and Sarah Ziegler all voted in support of the motion.


According to Superintendent Jim Amsden, the underground fuel storage tank will hopefully be removed sometime this fall.

Preliminary tax levy to increase by 4.9% in G.I.

The Green Isle City Council, during its regular meeting on Tuesday night, Sept. 10, voted 4-0 and adopted a resolution to approve the preliminary 2019 tax levy for collection in 2020.


The preliminary 2019 tax levy for collection in 2020 will increase from $588,163 to $617,144. This reflects a 4.9 percent increase.


The preliminary tax levy includes $392,471 in the general fund levy, $155,000 in the 2010 General Obligation Refunding Bond, $13,020 in the Fire Truck Fund and $56,653 in the 2010A General Obligation Refunding Additional.
