Wayne R. Farber, 81, Green Isle

Wayne Roland Farber, age 81, of Green Isle, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 11.  
Funeral service was held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Isle at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. Rev. Eric Rapp officiated the service.
Visitation was held at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.
Interment was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Green Isle.
He was born to Roland and Viola (Oelfke) Farber in Hollywood Township, Carver County, on Jan. 31, 1938.  He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hollywood, Township, and was confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. He served his country in the Army Reserves for six years. Wayne married Marlys ZumBerge at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Green Isle on Sept. 12, 1959.   
Wayne was a lifelong farmer enjoying all aspects of farming, and worked at FarmHand.  He was a DHIA board member. Wayne enjoyed attending county fairs, dairy shows, tractor pulls, and the big John Deere plant in Waterloo, Iowa. He also spent time watching the Minnesota Twins and football.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys; son, Jon (Cheryl) Farber of Green Isle; three granddaughters, Lynn (Trevor) Otto of Arlington, Erin Farber of Green Isle, and Lauren (Patrick) Enerson of Arlington; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Otto; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Farber of New Germany, and Marion Mackenthun of Chaska; and nieces and nephews.  
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Viola Farber; son, Steven Farber; brother, Gene Farber; brother-in-law, Maynard Mackenthun; and parents-in-law, Emil and Myrtle ZumBerge.
