Mildred Augusta Emma Ortloff Renneke, age 90 of Belle Plaine, passed away into the arms of Jesus with family by her side on Monday,  May 27. She is now with her beloved husband, Orville, dancing the night away.
Celebration of her life will be held at Zion United Church of Christ, Le Sueur, at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6.
Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6.
Millie was born to Christ and Augusta Ortloff on April 20, 1929. She was the youngest of six siblings, Al, Richard, Herman, Mable, and Leona, now all deceased. She graduated from the Arlington High School as valedictorian of her class. During high school she met the love of her life, Orville, and was married to him for 71 years until his death in December of 2018.
She always told everyone that she met, doctors and care providers, that she had six girls, Renee (Bruce), Connie (Randy), Nancy, Jill (Dan), Deb (Dave), and Terry (Randy); 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren to carry on their legacy.
She and Orville farmed from the beginning, living on Pony Road, southwest of Belle Plaine. She could throw bales, plow, and work the farm as well as anyone. For years she sewed all of her daughters’ clothes, and as the grandchildren graduated, many received quilts. She loved gardening, flowers, and took care of the altar guild at Zion for many years. She also was an excellent cook for her large family on most holidays.  In between all of these activities, she and Dad would travel with their RV to almost all of the states. Branson was one of their top destinations.
She will be missed and remembered by many.  Memorials preferred to the American Stroke Association.
