The Arlington City Council, during its regular meeting on Monday night, June 3, voted 4-0 and approved a motion to issue a change order and effectively remove the sidewalks from the 2019 Street & Utility Improvement Project.

The City Council made the move after concerned resident Janine Kuphal addressed the group and presented a petition signed by “almost all of the residents on Clinton Street” to remove the sidewalks from the 2019 Street & Utility Improvement Project.

Kuphal said sidewalks should be a priority in high traffic areas, but not on Clinton Street where there is a dead end and little to no traffic. She also talked about the preservation of trees along Clinton Street.
