Wildlife attraction is coming to New Auburn

The Sibley County Commissioners, on the recommendation of the Sibley County Planning and Zoning Committee, unanimously approved a conditional use permit to establish a planned unit development for the operation of a wildlife attraction business on property located on High Island Lake in New Auburn.  


Christian Lilienthal, on behalf of Wild Things Zoo Attractions, requested the conditional use permit for the island on High Island Lake in New Auburn.  He indicated that in addition to the wildlife, opportunities for camping and associated recreational activities will be provided to visitors.  Lilienthal indicated that the project will be developed in phases based on the increasing needs of the operation. Therefore, he pursued a planned unit development which allows for the gradual phase-in of improvements to the site.
