The visiting Sibley East varsity girls softball team opened its season with an 11-2 loss to Glencoe-Silver Lake in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon, April 4.

Senior Arayah St. John led Sibley East’s six-hit attack with two singles. Seniors Morgan Mathews and Abby Widmer, junior Bianca Men-dez and sophomore Rachel Widmer contributed one single each.

Senior Sydney Schott pitched the entire game and was tagged with the mound loss. The right hander gave up one earned run on 10 hits. She also struck out five, walked four and hit two batters.
