The Arlington City Council, during its regular meeting on Monday night, Aug. 5, unanimously approved a motion to extend the deadline by another two weeks for the vacancy on the Arlington City Council.

City Administrator Pat Melvin explained that the City of Arlington received one letter of interest for the vacancy prior to the previously set deadline of Thursday, Aug. 1. That individual, however, later withdrew their letter of interest.

The Arlington City Council, due to the recent resignation of City Council member Jim Heiland, is seeking qualified candidates to fill the open position.

The City Council is looking for an individual to fill the remaining term starting Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, through Dec. 31, 2022.
