County Board votes 5-0 to reduce setbacks for off-site manure stockpiles to 1/4 mile

By Amy Newsom
Sibley County Assessor Laura Hacker presented history of off-site manure stockpiling, as discussed at County Planning and Zoning meetings, to the Sibley County Commissioners at their meeting on Tuesday morning, April 9.

According to Hacker, at the March 4 Planning and Zoning Committee meeting, staff presented information regarding current ordinance provisions related to off-site manure stockpiling. The purpose of this discussion was to determine whether there is a need to address the current policy requirements. Staff prepared an ordinance amendment that resulted from this discussion and reflected the consensus of the Planning and Zoning Committee to amend the ordinance to remove the conditional use permit requirement and reduce setback requirements.
